Maintenance Technician

Harbor Fab is looking for a dependable hardworking individual with good work habits, abilities to minimize downtime of all equipment, and operate the facility at its maximum efficiency. In addition, we need someone who works well with others and is self-motivated.

Duties and responsibilities

• Inspecting and Diagnosing: Performing thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify issues with heavy equipment, such as CNC machines, Overhead Crane, Skytrack, small tool repairs, welding machine maintenance.
• Repair and Replacement: Repairing or replacing defective or worn parts, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components. This often involves consulting operating manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Welding and Fabrication: Fabricating new parts or repairing damaged ones using welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks such as fluid checks (oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid), filter changes, lubrication, and safety inspections.
• Testing and Adjustment: Testing equipment after repairs and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used.
• Safety: Adhering to strict safety protocols, especially when working with heavy equipment and during welding operations. 

Essential skills and qualifications

• Mechanical Skills: Strong understanding of engine components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment mechanics.
• Welding and Fabrication Expertise: Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick welding) and metal fabrication processes.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision and accuracy in all repair and fabrication tasks.
• Physical Strength and Dexterity: Ability to lift and move heavy components, operate specialized tools, and work in confined spaces.
• Safety Consciousness: Understanding and adhering to safety procedures.
• Communication Skills: Collaborating effectively with team members.
