Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Engineering Manager, the Glass Research Engineer plays a critical role in defining, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for glass‑based products. This role focuses on applying strong experimental design and data analysis to understand and reduce process variation, improve existing products, and support scalable, well‑controlled manufacturing methods. 

 

This position is part of the Continuous Improvement team located in East Greenbush and will be onsite. 

 

In this role, a typical day will look like: 

  • Design and execute experiments to improve proprietary manufacturing processes.  

  • Investigate glass behavior during high-temperature forming, including process stability and physical formation.  

  • Optimize process variables, tooling, and equipment setup.  

  • Lead root cause analysis of defects, yield loss, and correlate to process variation.  

  • Translate research findings into practical manufacturing improvements.  

  • Apply DOE and statistical methods to refine processes.  

  • Support process scaling and new product introduction. 

 

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • B.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
