We are looking for a talented senior full-stack software engineer to design and implement frontend technologies and end-to-end products to scale our diagnosis and testing capabilities for our autonomous vehicle development in Behavior Foundations.

The Behavior Foundations team is responsible for building and scaling the foundational technologies across ML infrastructure/framework, training and evaluation pipelines/workflows, data mining, learning algorithms, diagnosis, monitoring, testing and metrics. This foundation is supporting our researchers and engineers across Behaviors org to solve the most critical problems on Autonomous Vehicle (AV) decision tasks such as AV trajectory generation and AV trajectory scoring as well as predicting what other actors in the road are likely to do next. 

As Cruise’s business continues to scale rapidly, it’s critical to build a stable, reliable, scalable, flexible and cost-efficient foundation and long term architecture. We work closely with our partner teams across Cruise AI to lay out this foundation with a vision of building a Continuous Learning Machine, Data-Centric AI and objective model performance evaluation, to automate and accelerate our machine learning development, testing, and deployment and continuously ship models to improve the behaviors in our AVs, enabling our AVs to drive safely, reliably and smoothly in all different cities and scenarios.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build automation that surfaces insights on how our machine learning engineers can improve model performance more effectively and efficiently

  • Own the quality of the development and ensure the solutions are scalable, secure, and optimized for user experience and performance

  • Work closely with machine learning engineers to identify new requirements and improve existing products

  • Raise the bar on engineering excellence by producing best in class of code, documentation, testing, and monitoring

  • Work collaboratively to establish and execute on large, multi-team programs

  • Having vision and identifying strategically important problems, inefficiencies, or opportunities for significant improvements

What you must have:

  • Proficiency in writing modern JavaScript (ES6 or greater) and TypeScript 

  • Proficiency with React, Webpack, Babel,  HTML5 / CSS,  GraphQL, NodeJS, GCP/GCS/BigQuery

  • Outstanding ability to write clean, fast, reliable, and highly scalable software

  • Experience building, deploying, and operating production-level high-availability full-stack services

  • Experience in building scalable backend APIs 

  • Experience in setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines

  • Care about UI/UX, passionate about building rich and customer-focused applications 

  • Attention to details and passion for building amazing products

  • Strong organization and communication to work well across teams in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points!

  • Experience with data visualization, e.g. HTML canvas rendering, WebGL, charts 

  • Experience with Docker-based workloads using Kubernetes or other orchestration software on Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS

  • Experience with PostgreSQL

  • Experience with Prisma

  • Experience in architecting and building solutions from scratch

The salary range for this position is $163,200 - 240,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
