Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in allied health, applied sciences or related field is required.
- Associates degree in allied health, applied sciences or related field AND 3 years working as a sonographer OR High school diploma/GED AND 5 years working as a sonographer may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- 4 years of sonography/ultrasound experience is required.
- 7 years of sonography/ultrasound experience is required if meeting the education equivalency with an Associates degree OR 9 years of sonography/ultrasound experience is required if meeting the education equivalency with a high school diploma/GED.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) is required.
- Successful completion of 4 specialty registry exams is required. This may include Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), Fetal Echocardiography (FE), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), Pediatric Sonography, or Vascular Technology (VT).
- Member of 1 or more professional associations is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
