Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Pharmacy Technician for our Pharmacy Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Pharmacy Technician you will:
• Prepare and delivers medication to Pyxis
• Maintain an accurate inventory of medications and supplies by performing inventory management cycle counts and Pyxis unit inspections with electronic documentation
• Assess need for and prepacks oral and solid medications for dispensing
• Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications include:
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent
• Graduation from an ASHP accredited or PTCB recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
• Preferred: 1 year of pharmacy experience
• Preferred: Previous experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels.
• Required: Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

This 6-week training program is designed to introduce Pharmacy Technicians to hospital based practice and will be a combination of clinical and technical competence including:
Classroom Lecture
On-Site Training
Unit dose training
IV Room training
Supervised shifts
Final exam and performance review & evaluation
Location & Schedule:
Weeks 1 & 2 at Adventist HealthCare Support Center in Gaithersburg, MD
Weeks 3-6 at Shady Grove Medical Center, Rockville, MD
Training program is a Monday - Friday 8 hour shift from 9am-5pm
**Post 6-week training program, the position becomes a standard full-time rotating shift position.
Upon hire you will complete a six-week Pharmacy Technician Training Program, to develop clinical and technical competence in health-system pharmacy through a variety of modalities, including classroom, simulation and application of learning in a hospital pharmacy setting. Demonstrated competence will include clinical skills (medication knowledge and pharmacy calculations), technical skills (Cerner, Logistics and Pyxis), and interpersonal skills (building relationships with other healthcare providers, patients, and team members).
Pay Range:
$19.64 - $25.65If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
