The Research Assistant reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the study.
Daily Operations
• Lead the full development of the literature review, from inception, to research, to the publication-ready deliverable.
• Responsible for identifying the process of the literature review and coordinating with all other researchers.
• Survey the existing literature in the designated topic as assigned by the PI.
• Synthesize the information from the researched literature into a summary.
• Critically analyze the information gathered by identifying gaps in current knowledge, showing limitations of theory and points of views.
• Formulate areas for further research and reviewing areas of controversy.
• Present the literature in an organized way.
• Assist other coordinators with administrative study activities in a timely manner as necessary.
• Other research and writing related duties as assigned by the PI.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
• Doctoral or Master level education preferably in public health, sciences, medical sciences, social sciences, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in conducting health disparities/equity-related research.
• Familiarity with public health epidemiological analysis of mortality by cause.
• Publication-level writing capability.
• Ability to effectively devote keen and acute attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and the ability and desire to work in a company that embraces collaboration and a team approach.
• Demonstrated ability to operate basic Microsoft office software, as well as citation management/reference manager programs.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Skilled at presenting findings to large audiences and stakeholders.
• Professional and highly motivated “self-starter” with the ability to exercise initiative, together with ability to work as a team player as well as independently while managing a variety of skills in an academic setting.
• Excellent task management and prioritization skills.
• Proven ability to successfully build and cultivate excellent long-term relationships with key stakeholders of a research project.
• Excellent follow up management.
• Experience scheduling meetings via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
