SALARY: $83,000 - 95,000 annually. This is a 4- Month temporary position.

Primary Purpose

This is a Four-Month TEMPORARY position.  The Assistant Director of Research on the Montana campus is expected to work both collaboratively with the whole Research and Scholarly Activity team, especially the Vice Provost for RSA, as well as independently to run to the day-to-day operations for Research and Scholarly Activity on the Rocky Vista University – Montana campus. This will include training and mentoring both employees and students at all levels. The Assistant Director will manage the wet lab resources on their campus, including training on equipment and equipment maintenance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactively communicate with and inform the Vice Provost of Research of issues or concerns relating to compliance activities and procedures.
  • Assist with student and employee training and mentoring regarding research and scholarly activity.
  • Manage the campus wet lab, including maintain instruments and training individuals.
  • Train, promote, and encourage research and scholarly activities
  • Help build a culture that respects, values, and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Other duties as requested by the Vice Provost of Research or the Vice President of the RVU-Montana campus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven collaborative skills.
  • Working knowledge of good research practices.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with computer and necessary software.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships.
  • Research and reporting skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A research PhD from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline.
  • A proven track record of research and scholarly activity.
  • A history of successfully mentoring students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with accreditation processes.
  • Experience mentoring faculty.
