Job Description

The Executive Director Global Performance Reporting works closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the Managing Director Financial Operations, portfolio managers, the Global Investors Group, and the rest of the senior leadership team to synthesize and interpret performance of Affinius Capital's investment programs and underlying investments. This position will own identification, calculation and communication of track record and performance analysis for the global portfolio and will assist in delivering actionable, performance-based insights for communicating to and assisting senior management with portfolio analysis and decision-making.  

 

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the identification, accumulation of date, calculation and communication of recurring historical performance measures and track record composites, including money- (IRR) and time-weighted returns, equity multiples, waterfalls and related incentive fees and promotes relied upon by business units and disclosed in both investor reports and financial statement footnote disclosures.
  • Own global performance data processes and controls and accountability of service providers to them in order to produce and interpret performance results encompassing programs and investments managed in San Antonio, New York, London, Amsterdam and any future location(s) determined appropriate.
  • Interpret and summarize quarterly relevant industry benchmark data (NCREIF index releases, MSCI, public REITs, etc.) and use related querying and analytical tools to glean insights into relative performance of our portfolios in comparison. Apply the use of attribution methods and analysis to internal performance metrics as compared to benchmarks and communicate results to senior management and colleagues both orally and in written form, as required.
  • Collaborate with IT and accounting personnel to further automate performance calculations through Yardi’s performance-based system. To that end, assist IT and lead automation efforts to assemble, validate and store relevant performance-related data from multiple sources and make them available real-time.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of baseline historical models that are relied upon by Portfolio Management and Analytics in performing further sensitivity and scenario ad-hoc analyses.
  • Design, implement and monitor the necessary performance-based workflows amongst the Fund Administrator, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Global Investors Group (GIG), and Marketing units to streamline and ensure an efficient quarter-end analysis and reporting process.
  • Identify opportunities and accountability standards for data validation, calculation automation, presentation and visualization of data and insights with fund administrator(s) and internal constituents.  Own the performance close calendar and consistently improve efficiency and timeliness of required and ad-hoc outputs.
  • Be and remain fluent in the SEC Marketing rule and any changes or new rules issued impacting performance and track record production and communications. Recommend appropriate disclosures for performance metrics and other calculations in according with SEC guidance and expectations.
  • Closely interact with and assist the Portfolio Management and GIG units in telling the performance story for particular funds to existing and prospective investors and responding in a timely and accurate manner to ad-hoc portfolio management and client performance-based requests.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Math, Accounting or related field.
  • 10+ years of performance measurement or relevant quantitative experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of performing and analyzing recurring performance measure calculations, as well as interpreting and communicating results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, business cycles, and monetary policies and their interrelated relationships with the institutional real estate industry and direct and indirect influence on performance.
  • Willing to work full time onsite.
