WORKING TITLE: ACCOUNTANT III
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located in the Office of Financial Management at Central Office, located in Tallahassee, FL.
The mission of the Office of Financial Management at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the effective and efficient management of the department's financial resources. The Office of Financial Management is committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in financial practices to enhance the overall financial health and sustainability of the department.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Invoice Management: Monitor the AP Invoices Mailbox daily, verify and log invoices, and prepare them for timely payment of the department’s legal liabilities.
- State Accounting Systems: Operate within state accounting systems of moderate complexity, ensuring accurate processing and compliance.
- Vendor and Division Support: Interact with organizational areas and vendors to route invoices timely, provide assistance with accounting records, and conduct detailed research using various programs.
- Reconciliation and Distribution: Reconcile and record vendor statements, distribute mail, process warrants, and maintain files, ensuring efficient communication and operations.
- Process Improvement and Teamwork: Analyze procedures for process improvements, communicate effectively with internal and external customers, and work both independently and within a team environment.
