TITLE: Marketing Student Assistant

RATE: $15 per hour

HOURS PER WEEK: Hybrid, 5-10 hours per week, including one in-person meeting with Farrah Narkiewicz in Horn 113.

SUMMARY

The Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance enhances Babson’s innovative and practical approach to finance education through programs and resources that enrich the student learning experience, support faculty research, and engage our alumni community.

In partnership with the Cutler Center Marketing & Events Manager, the Cutler Center is seeking a marketing student assistant to support our social media strategy, which includes video and social posts across various platforms, as well as communication with students through different newsletters.

WHY WE’RE HIRING FOR THIS ROLE

To effectively communicate with the student body, the Cutler Center is seeking a student who knows how and when to engage with students through marketing communications and social media. Additionally, video continues to rise as the preferred content type on social media. As the Cutler Center seeks to integrate video into its storytelling, we need a student with the skills to visually convey the stories of the finance community at Babson College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cutler Center Marketing Intern will create and post content, including graphics and videos, co-manage the content calendar, and assist in refining the social media strategy for the Cutler Center's social media accounts. The intern will also gather and design content for various campus newsletters.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a proven track record of producing engaging social media content. This candidate can hit the ground running while demonstrating strong ownership of the content for our various social media accounts. The intern will also collaborate closely with the Cutler Center Finance lab student assistants to gain a better understanding of the Cutler Center’s programs and events throughout the semester.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather content from the Cutler Center and finance-related programs and events to share in newsletters for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Gather content for this week's Instagram story: This Week in Finance at Babson College
  • Manage all Cutler Center social media platforms, including creating content, posting content, and tracking metrics.
  • Manage the social media planning calendar for all posts across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Loop45.
  • Support event promotions, including outreach initiatives and marketing materials development.
  • Create highlight reels of major Cutler Center events on campus.
  • Utilize data, insights, and metrics from previous social posts to guide future content decisions.
  • Use Canva to create marketing collateral for presentations, social media, programs, events, and newsletters.
  • Assist with best practices for effectively communicating with Babson finance and real estate students.
  • Event promotion through specified outlets on the Babson campus (LCD screens, posters, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities for storytelling on campus for our finance and real estate students.
  • Hanging posters/notices on campus to promote upcoming programs and events; taking down outdated notices of past programs and events on campus
  • Timely submission of work hours

QUALIFICATIONS

This opportunity is open to all current undergraduate and graduate students, preferably those concentrating in marketing. The estimated commitment is 5-10 hours per week, with some nights and weekends possibly required due to events. Prior social media experience is essential, along with proficiency in Canva, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Familiarity with WhatsApp community group chats is a plus. Candidates should be personable, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
