Job Description

Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Convention & Event Services (CES), the ideal candidate will serve as a key member of the City of Dallas FIFA 2026 intra-City working team. The selected candidate will coordinate with City of Dallas executive leadership, Visit Dallas, the Visit Dallas Sports Commission, FIFA staff and representatives, elected officials, and other key individuals responsible for delivering regional activities required to implement nine FIFA matches.
The successful candidate shall support the vision and mission of FIFA 2026 in alignment with City of Dallas Service First values and principles. In a fast-paced work environment, the liaison will successfully balance competing deadlines to lead strategic initiatives; foster partnerships and coalitions; and, work with interdisciplinary teams and taskforces.
 

Essential Functions:
1 Evaluate, plan, coordinate, and manage CES projects using effective methodologies; coordinate project activities across City of Dallas internal divisions and departments; and manage relationships with external and private sector vendors and contractors.
2 Collaboratively develop comprehensive project plans with interdisciplinary team members; oversee, coordinate, manage, and lead teams in execution of project plans; manage committee expectations and focus on achieving FIFA defined goals on time and within budget.
3 Lead and facilitate various meetings with project members, vendors, and upper management, particularly Visit Dallas Sports Commission; ensure the project scope, budget, logistics, and schedule are agreed upon and successfully followed.
4 Identify, determine, and address potential project risks and difficulties and assist in the design of strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
5 Compile, prepare, and distribute project information, status reports, and budget expenditures; conduct project status meetings with team members including CES and end-users or other stakeholders
6 Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Knowledge and Skills:
1 Senior-level experience in local, state and federal government affairs
2 Knowledge of CES infrastructure and development.
3 Ability to direct, coordinate, and communicate effectively with various participants and vendors on project status.
4 Successful track record of creating innovative approaches to communicate and connect with a wide range of audiences to drive engagement.
5 Passionate commitment to and enthusiasm for leadership.
6 Proven success in creating and managing large teams including government affairs.
7 Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage relationships with influencers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on deliverables.
8 Experience with major event fundraising and sponsorship opportunities
9 Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in public administration or policy, communications, business, law, or related field.
Experience:
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in government affairs, large event planning, policy, and project management.
