Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Clinic/Practice Assistant Senior serves as a key member of the team that provides superior care and exceptional service to its patients. One critical dimension of this service focuses on patient check-in process and improving the human experience upon our patients’ arrival to our practice and throughout the duration of their visit. The Home Base Clinic/Practice Assistant Senior will play an important role in redefining and reinvigorating the patient welcome and check-in experience. The Clinic/Practice Assistant Senior will be the crucial “face and attitude” of this patient-centered practice. While also providing medical scheduling services, the Clinic/Practice Assistant Senior will have the unique opportunity to work within a supportive team setting enabled by systems and technologies that will allow the employee to provide patient care and services at their highest levels. In addition, the Clinic/Practice Assistant Senior will be responsible to assist in special projects when skillset and capacity allow, as deemed appropriate by the Practice Manager. This role would be 50/50 split: 20 hours general PSC duties (front desk coverage, phone coverage, scheduling) and 20 hours insurance reimbursement work.

Essential Functions
-Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office. Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records. Assist callers with routine inquiries and schedule appointments. Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
-Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems. Provides assistance and training to others in these areas. May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
-Provides functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants.
-In conjunction with Supervisor oversees daily activities of practice staff.
-May be required to accept co-payments. Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
-Obtain pre/prior authorizations as necessary under the supervision of the Practice Manager
-Act as subject matter expert on insurance authorizations and billing process
-Train administrative colleagues and new PSC staff on billing best practices and Home Base process
-Work with Practice Managers to create quarterly report and analytics on charges and reimbursements by payer; help identify areas for improvement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technology and MS Office skills – Advanced Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Knowledge of office operations and standards and understanding of office procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing.
- Ability to use phone system and manage more non-routine phone calls and solve routine issues as appropriate.
