  • Core Knowledge & Skills: Masters SQL and data architecture; builds end-to-end pipelines on cloud platforms; ensures security and compliance; leverages APIs and advanced AI/ML; plans and leads projects and team resources.

As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Senior Database Administrator.

Overview:


The Senior Database Administrator will design, implement, and maintain robust PostgreSQL database architectures supporting mission-critical applications. This role ensures high performance, availability, and security while collaborating with development teams to optimize database interactions.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database architectures for performance, availability, and security.

  • Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases.

  • Conduct performance tuning of queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.

  • Develop and implement backup, recovery, and failover procedures.

  • Assist in designing and developing data models and database solutions.

  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database code in application layers.

  • Provide guidance on database best practices to IT staff and stakeholders.

  • Ensure database infrastructure remains current with technology trends and security patches.

  • Maintain documentation for database configurations and procedures.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for database-related queries and technical support.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).

  • 8+ years of experience in database administration, with strong PostgreSQL expertise.

  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL.

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl).

  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

  • Top Secret clearance required


Preferred

  • PostgreSQL certification.

  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, OCI) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with other database systems (Oracle, MSSQL).
