Job Description

We are looking for an energetic and mechanically inclined Heavy Equipment Maintenance Intern to join our team. This position provides hands-on experience and equipment knowledge to make a significant impact on the efficient functionality of our heavy equipment.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

1. Assist with the repair, maintenance, and service of heavy machinery and equipment.

2. Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts, identifying worn parts, and inspecting equipment to ensure optimal performance.

3. Work under the supervision of our seasoned technicians to learn to diagnose mechanical issues with heavy equipment.

4. Assist in preparing reports detailing repairs, maintenance, and parts.

5. Comply with safety procedures and regulations in all operations.

Qualifications

1. Pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in heavy machinery, mechanical engineering, diesel mechanics, or related field.

2. Strong mechanical aptitude in equipment repair and maintenance.

3. Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.

4. A basic understanding of machinery and tools involved in heavy equipment maintenance.

5. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

6. Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively within a team.

7. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
• Must be able to work shift work with 12 hour shifts.
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
• Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
