Job Description

The Application/Calibration Engineer is responsible for Electric Power Steering (EPS) development and release activities, which includes calibration, application, and validation of in-vehicle activity for the automotive and commercial vehicle steering gear. In this position, the Engineer will work hands-on in the vehicle and be a key point of contact for OEM customers, including relationship management for future business growth.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • In-vehicle and simulation/bench performance calibration of the steering system-based algorithms to meet both objective and subjective customer and Bosch performance specifications
  • Create test specifications and procedures and review/approve system level requirements
  • Identify software, hardware, and system level issues and utilize critical thinking process to perform root cause analysis
  • Perform in-vehicle validation by analyzing vehicle data and providing appropriate feedback  internally and to the customer
  • Communicate on status of testing, releases, and vehicle evaluations through formal and informal reports internally and to the customer
  • Coordinates with Sales & Program Management by supporting new acquisition business

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field or foreign equivalent
  • 0-2+ yrs. practical experience in automotive vehicle development or educational understanding of software development working with stability control, brake control or steering system control.
  • Possess a Valid Driver’s License
  • Instrumentation / measurement practical experience

Preferred:

  • Must be capable of learning other software packages (SAP, JIRA, ClearCase/ClearQuest, DOORS etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Vehicle dynamics theory or practical application
  • Previous vehicle limit handling drivers training and/or drivers certification 
  • Experience with one or more of the following: CANalyzer, CANape, and/or ETAS INCA
  • Experience working with commercial vehicles
