Job Summary


The Manager of Health Education is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations for the assigned business unit, including supervising staff, providing coaching/guidance, and ensuring departmental and organizational priorities are met in a timely fashion.  This position prepares and updates departmental administrative documents, including program descriptions, policies, work plans, and reports. The Manager monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, works with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical assistance, proposes and drives process improvement opportunities, and manages the budget for the assigned business unit.

Duties


Manages the operation of the assigned work unit, including development, implementation, administration and evaluation of goals and strategies.

 

Provides guidance, mentoring, and coaching to direct reports. Resolves conflicts and manages staff performance issues, as needed.  

 

Prepares, reviews and updates policies and procedures, program descriptions, evaluation reports, ongoing monitoring reports, and other administrative documents for the assigned work unit.

 

Creates operational and capital budgets. Ensures operational goals and objectives are met through expense management and within approved budget.

 

Oversees implementation of critical and/or organizationally sensitive initiatives or projects.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Required

Bachelor's DegreeIn lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Education Preferred

Master's Degree in Community Health

Experience


Required:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare and/or managed care.

 

At least 3-4 years of experience managing staff with the demonstrated experience on the following list of stated  knowledge, experience and/ or skills.

 

Experience overseeing multiple complex projects.

 

Preferred:
Experience in a managed care health plan setting, preferably with a Medicaid managed care plan.

 

Experience with regulatory requirements and auditing/oversight.

Skills

Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Superior problem solving, planning, and organizational skills.

 

Preferred:
Bilingual in one of L.A. Care Health Plan’s threshold languages is highly desirable. English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese.
