JOB DETAILS

Head of Operations - US EV

SALARY

A competitive remuneration package is available, based on quality and range of experience.

ABOUT ZENOBE

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking to recruit an experienced and electrically qualified process driven operations professional with experience in the EV Operations market to lead us scaling up our operations processes along with the number of sites within the US. The candidate will bring a good understanding of the technologies around electric vehicle charging, charger OEM’s and batteries, and monitoring and control software corresponding to both. Working with the Director of Asset Management & Operations and other members of the operations team, the candidate will manage the day-to-day aspects of the operations process from the detection of issues to the reporting and development of systems to mitigate their reoccurrence. The role integrates with team members in analytics, software product management, construction and business development to maximise the value of new and existing projects. The role includes liaising with clients and external stakeholders. It will be a requirement to hit the ground running and to be comfortable operating at a rapid pace at times with high levels of ambiguity and the pressure of deadlines.

A BIT ABOUT THE DAY TO DAY

The role holder will be required to help optimise business processes and implement systems to enhance efficiencies within Zenobe. The role will be the point of EV escalation and line management for the regional O&M leads.

  • The Head of Operations EV will actively participate in the EV business development and procurement processes to ensure that deliverable and profitable bids are submitted. For example giving input to the sub-contracting strategy, validating programme and cost assumptions and participating in bid review meetings to give operational risk assessments.

Support the Zenobe Delivery team during the asset creation phase of the asset lifecycle

  • The Head of Operations EV will actively support the Zenobe Delivery team during the asset creation part of the asset lifecycle. For example, giving input on procurement decisions about original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) based on operational experience, appointment of sub-contractors based on operational experience and working constructively with Delivery on commissioning to ensure a smooth handover.

Responsible for operation and maintenance of the EV assets

  • The majority of the Head of Operations-EV time will be spent ensuring that the assets are operated and maintained so that business goals for health and safety, finance, asset stewardship and customer service are achieved. These are measured on a monthly basis through a balanced scorecard process.

This will include;

  • Working with the Zenobe safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) team to ensure a positive approach to health and safety and environment. For example carrying out regular H&S site visits, ensuring H&S site risk assessments and incident response plans are in place and ensuring regular environmental audits are completed.
  • Putting in place operating and maintenance plans for each site and ensuring that they are followed, including all statutory operating and maintenance rec
