Then the Department for Children and Families' Grants and Contracts Unit may be just the place for you!


We are looking for a new member to join our close-knit team based out of the Waterbury State Office Complex; while this position is based in Waterbury, there is the opportunity for a hybrid (in office/remote) schedule. Our Unit is made up of twenty-one staff, including other DCF Grants and Contracts Managers, that work closely with internal and external partners to support DCF's initiatives at the Department and Division levels (Child Development Division, Disability Determination Services, Economic Services Division, Family Services Division, and Office of Child Support). Great attention to detail, an understanding of financial reconciliation, financial monitoring and budgeting, strength-based customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills, proven ability to work independently and juggle competing demands, flexibility, and a willingness to learn are some key qualifications for this position. Experience with and/or working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, the Agency of Administration's Bulletins 3.5 and 5, agreement drafting or development of detailed scopes of work are a plus! This position is limited services and ends 06/30/2027.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office environment as well as in the field, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary. Considerable tact and diplomacy will be required for effective performance. Extensive interaction with a broad range of community groups, service providers, advocacy groups, and other state and federal agencies will occur.  Stress may be encountered from deadlines and from operating in a highly publicized and public setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) years of work experience that includes one or more of the following: (a) administration of grants/contracts as a funder and/or recipient; (b) collaboration with community partners in the delivery of social services; c) enforcement of provider agreements; OR d) management of financial affairs or a governmental accounting system.

Four (4) years of experience that includes one or more of the following: (a) administration of grants/contracts as a funder and/or recipient; (b) collaboration with community partners in the delivery of social services; c) enforcement of provider agreements; OR d) management of financial affairs or a governmental accounting system.
