TriHealth’s Weekend Option Program is designed for nurses who want meaningful work, the stability of a committed schedule, and the flexibility to balance life outside the hospital.  In the Observation Unit (also known as CDU), you will care for patients requiring short‑term monitoring and evaluation. As a Registered Nurse, you'll apply the full nursing process, collaborate with providers, and help guide patients and their families through fast‑paced clinical decisions. Your role directly influences patient flow, safety, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families; document per TriHealth and unit guidelines. 
  • Develop and update individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and patient needs.
  • Provide holistic, safe, and therapeutic nursing care across acute and/or hospice settings. 
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and interprofessional care teams. 
  • Incorporate health teaching and counseling into patient and family interactions. 
  • Maintain compliance with the Weekend Program schedule expectations, including required weekend shifts and potential evening/night call.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing. 
  • New hires must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Active Registered Nurse license. 
  • BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers). 
  • Strong nursing knowledge built from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.

Preferred

  • Experience working full‑time (1+ year) or part‑time (2+ years) in acute care settings.
  • Membership in a related professional nursing organization. 
  • Specialty certification (e.g., med‑surg, emergency nursing). 

 

Schedule & Work Location

  • FTE: Part‑Time - 24 Hours Weekly
  • Shift: Nights - 6:30pm-7:00am
  • Hospital: Bethesda North Hospital (Observation / CDU)
  • Work Arrangement: On‑site, inpatient observation unit

Hourly Incentives & Bonus:

$10hr Weekend Incentive

$4hr Shift Differential 

Acute Care Incentive Pay- Hourly Pay Based on Previous RN Experience 

Job Overview:

 

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. This position collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient’s needs, and may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice. This position requires weekend hours and may be on-call during the evenings and nights. Thus, the position must be flexible.
