Senior Member of Technical Staff – Data Services

Oracle believes in empowering people to do more, through world class capabilities in analytics. We are the Data Services team within Oracle Analytics, responsible for innovating, building, and supporting data service management technologies and capabilities that support our diverse portfolio of products.

Data Services organization mission is to provide an easy way to develop advanced analytical and AI applications combining data from across the entire Oracle ecosystem including Databases, Applications, and Object Storages. Data Services already provides a wide array of capabilities for data management and processing, through Big Data Service, Data Catalog, Data Flow, Data Integration Service, and Data Lake. However, customers must integrate and navigate through these services to implement their use cases such as Lakehouses, AI/ML training, or BI dashboards. We are building a new data product to give customers a single pane of glass where they can load and secure data, author Spark notebooks, define data feeds and pipelines, query data with SQL and share data to others.

Our product provides a highly scalable, multi-tenant indexing and search platform, using OpenSearch as the search engine. We are seeking talented, self-motivated and team-oriented software developers to build and operate the high quality search solution. The ideal candidate should have strong passion about search technology and experience developing and operating search frameworks and services in a cloud environment. We are in the early stages of the product development and your contribution will have a deep impact on the design and implementation of the new service.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, with 4+ years of professional experience
  • Excellent design and programming skills with expertise in Java, Python, RESTful API, Web Services
  • Experience in developing highly scalable end-to-end search solutions
  • OpenSearch knowledge and hands on experience
  • Experience designing and building distributed systems
  • Solid understanding of designing systems for performance, efficiency, and availability with a strong customer focus
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, and proven attention to quality and detail
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Cloud development experience on one of the major platforms (Oracle, AWS, Azure, GCP) preferred

Career Level - IC3

  • Design and implement indexing and search components, as well as operate the service deployed in production across Oracle Cloud data centers
  • Configure and tune OpenSearch for maximum availability, scalability and performance
  • Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovation that improves search relevancy and user experience
  • Ensuring high product quality through rigorous code reviews, bug fixing, and unit testing  
  • Design and build distributed, scalable, highly available, fault tolerant software system.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering Management and Architects to define and productize functional requirements
  • Work with remote and geographically distributed teams 
  • Participate in on-call for the service with the team and drive operational success of the cloud service we build.

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
