Position Description:
The US Director of Medical Affairs is a key strategic role within the medical affairs organization and reports into the Contraception TA Lead/Global Director of Medical Affairs (GDMA). This role involves developing, updating, managing and executing on the US medical affairs strategy while working with the various stakeholders.
The responsibilities and requirements include:
- Strategize and Plan: Create US medical affairs plans, ensuring relevant strategies and plans are aligned with Organon corporate and global medical objectives. Contribute to the development of the global medical affairs plan (GMAP).
- Lead REMS Medical Affairs activities: Serve as the Medical Affairs Contraception lead on REMS Advisory Committee, with dedicated responsibility for bridging Medical Affairs and REMS activities. This includes liaising with MSLs and other field-based medical teams to ensure seamless integration of REMS risk management messaging into broader Medical communications and strategy.
- Oversee US Contraceptives Clinical Training Program (CTP): Act as medical lead/signatory for trainer contracts, responsible for resolving individual trainer contracting issues. Provide Follow on Review training to all new sales representatives (Clinical Account Specialists) quarterly. Work closely with Commercial CTP director to resolve all issues requiring medical input. Evaluate CTP trainer effectiveness and compliance for actionable items and follow up from CAS closeout forms. Resolve speaker/trainer issues: investigate, deliberate, consult legal, adjudicate.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with diverse teams, including Commercial, Outcomes Research, Field Medical, Strategic Medical Content Creation, and Market Access, driving the development and implementation of US MAOR plans.
- Scientific Exchange and Alignment: Ensure alignment of scientific exchange with our global scientific communications platform, creating a unified, impactful narrative.
- Insight Consolidation and Action: Synthesize actionable medical insights, driving evidence-based approaches and processes to inform medical strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate enriching relationships with a network of scientific leaders, guideline committees, government officials, medical societies, and other pivotal stakeholders, driving our understanding and approach to healthcare solutions.
- US Expertise: Provide support as a US regional TA expert, empowering colleagues to engage effectively with national scientific leaders and enhancing our collective knowledge and impact.
- Event Organization and Input: Coordinate US expert input events, symposia, and educational meetings, fostering dialogue and insights on the implementation of new medicines.
- Investigator-Initiated Study management: Aid with review of Investigator-Initiated Study proposals, ensuring alignment with Organon standards and vision.
- Ability to manage complexity and demonstrate innovative approaches to medical affairs activities.
- Ensure prioritization of medical affairs activities and manage budgets/resources effectively to achieve organizational goals/priorities.
- Travel may be required to attend medical congresses, meetings with external stakeholders and other global activities as agreed by management

Experience:
- 5 years minimum combined global biopharmaceutical industry experience in Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs as well as clinical experience is required
- Experience in medical affairs, including creating and implementing medical strategies
- Proven track record of leadership and execution in a global or regional medical affairs role.
- Working knowledge of healthcare compliance principles and local/regional regulations and laws
- Experience in Contraception and Women’s Health is highly preferred
Education / Certificates:
- MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA or equivalent degree in health sciences
