Position Overview:
The Department of Educational Leadership EdD program seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding.
Based on successful GA Eligibility and Department Eligibility, the Doctoral Program of Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) invites applicants for a 12month position as a Community Relations Graduate Assistant. Since its establishment in 2006, the Ed.D. program has prepared community leaders for P12 and higher education administration. The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Graduate Assistants to the courses or duties that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes, courses offered may vary, and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

Summer 2024: May 20, 2024 - Aug 17, 2024
Fall 2024: August 19, 2024 - December 23, 2024
Spring 2025: January 15, 2025 - May 23, 2025
Hours/Units per week: Students can work up to 20-hours per week;
- 1-unit is equivalent to 2.66 hrs per week (40hrs x 1-unit/15-unit)
- No more than 6 units, (or not to exceed 7.50 total WTU’s in one semester, which equates to 20-hours per week)
Job Duties may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific area to which the GA will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty supervisor.
- Developing processes and strategies to foster engagement with the Ed.D. Program community, namely the program’s students, alumni, larger Fresno State community, and prospective students;
- Collaborating with the Program Advisor to create a system for tracking program alumni, updating their contact information, and identifying opportunities for alumni to connect with current students and community members;
- Coordinating programs such as alumni speaker webinars and socials; Identifying program alumni and collecting information from them to share on social media and the program website;
- Assist in identifying potential community partners;
- Determining needs of our program alumni and offering resources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum GPA 3.0; Applicants with a 3.5 or higher are preferred,
- Must enroll in at least 6 units (three of which must be graduate units) for the semester or in two courses applicable to program of study,
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background,
- For those who have previously held a TA position at Fresno State, peer and student evaluations will be reviewed and considered as part of the selection process.
- Must have an earned Bachelor’s degree
- Must be enrolled in the HEAL master’s program at Fresno State Experience working in higher education and/or student affairs Experience developing and delivering surveys using Google Forms and Qualtrics Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Google Suite and MS Office Understanding of social justice and equity issues in higher education Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desire to develop student affairs professional competencies
- Interest in supporting graduate student success
- Experience in analyzing and delivering reports on data from surveys
- Experience using Mailchimp and Canvas online software
