- Assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks in the transformer shop.
- Learn and perform reconditioning of transformers, network protectors, and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Perform physically demanding activities, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Follow all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Obtain required certifications and licenses.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company positively.
- Work overtime, off-hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Incorporate Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools into daily work.
- Support a culture of safety, diversity, operational excellence, cost management, and customer experience.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude is preferred
- Ability to learn and perform tasks involving hand and power tools, machine shop tools, and standard maintenance functions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Previous maintenance or shop experience is a plus.
- Driver's License Required
- Other: NYS/NYC Asbestos Handler's 1 Year Required
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
- Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
- Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
- Acknowledge that if selected, must pass a Physical Abilites Test (PAT)
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
