Senior Production Manager, Video (Remote, Americas)

Job Description

Shopify’s video team is seeking a Production Manager to join our creative team and help us introduce Shopify and its latest products to aspiring and existing merchants around the globe. 

This hands-on role will work with creative producers, designers, and animators to shepard effective and well-crafted creative for a variety of Shopify platforms including paid marketing ads for our YouTube and social channels, go-to-market videos, product explainers, photoshoots, and more.

Qualifications

You have a proven track record of:

• managing multiple video and photography projects of varying scope from procurement through delivery. You are comfortable managing internal teams or external vendors through this process and bouncing between projects as needed
• developing and reviewing SOW’s, negotiating vendor contracts, managing a complex procurement process, and tracking usage/licensing on projects as needed
• using a variety of project management systems to build schedules and ensure all day-to-day tasks are completed on time and on track. Specific management can include sourcing and booking crew and equipment, creating call sheets, shot lists, or booking time with senior leaders to review
• Managing strong relationships and communicating with creative partners, external vendors and senior leadership, using a solution-oriented mindset to plan and create efficiencies
• managing budget conversations with senior leadership as well as with your vendors
• Leading post-production efforts including creating shot lists, file management, and connecting the threads between editors, motion designers, and finishing experts
• making great decisions quickly. You’ve seen it all before, know how much things should cost and how long they should take, and know how to create a plan B (or C) for any situation 
• thriving in a fast paced environment with a lot of nuance and ambiguity. You prefer it that way!
• QC’ing assets before they are delivered. You also deeply enjoy the creative process and want to ensure that work is not only done on time and on budget, but done with high standards
• Being able to strategically process past performance and create efficiencies and best practices for future work

The tools you work with include:

• Google Spreadsheets, Github, and/or other project management systems
• Experience reviewing Premiere or After Effects files
• Knowledge of Figma 
• Cloud-based servers and archival systems

You also have:

• Empathy for your peers and the ability to keep a level head when things get busy or complicated
• Deep alignment with Shopify’s mission to make commerce better for everyone
• Proficiency in French, German, or Japanese is a plus!
