RTX Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Component Engineering Intern to join our dynamic Component Engineering team in El Segundo, CA. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the development of cutting-edge aerospace and defense technologies. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to meaningful projects that support our mission to protect and connect the world.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in the selection and qualification of electronic and mechanical components for various aerospace and defense applications.
  • Support the analysis and evaluation of component performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure component compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Conduct research on new components and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions for product development.
  • Maintain and update component databases and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist in supplier communication and management to ensure timely delivery and quality of components.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance component engineering processes and practices.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their sophomore year by the start of summer 2026.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Obsolescence Management Risk Assessments and tools.
  • Experience with CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100, MIL-STD, and IPC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working collaboratively in a team environment.
