Salesforce Inc. seeks Systems Engineering Principal in San Francisco, CA:

Job Duties: Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. Serve as the primary point responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet‐facing services. Gain deep knowledge of our complex applications. Support the roll‐out and deployment of new product features and installations to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth. Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large‐scale k8s environment. Improve resiliency and availability of the system by monitoring, alerting, self‐healing, destructive testing, and game day exercises. Collaborate with multiple software engineering teams to understand deployment practices and processes. Improve the release pipeline to ensure a highly resilient deployment strategy, ideally with zero downtime. Work closely with the software development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with operability in mind. Participate in on‐call rotation and the technical review of incidents, partnering with R&D teams. Measure everything, providing critical operational insight into our applications. ˆHQ address additionally encompasses the following Salesforce locations in San Francisco: 350 Mission Street, 415 Mission Street, 50 Fremont Street. The permanent position may be offered at any of these locations in San Francisco. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the field of software engineering/program analysis or two (2) years of experience in the job offered OR Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of software engineering/program analysis or five (5) years of experience in the job offered. 

A related technical degree required (Computer Science, Engineering (any field)).

Special Skill Requirements (at least two years of experience in each of the following): (1) Container Run-Time: Docker; (2) Linux or CentOS; (3) Design and Scale Kubernetes platforms; (4) AWS EKS and Auto-Scaling; (5) Hadoop or HBase or Zookeeper; (7) Puppet Configuration Management; (8) Networking; and (9) Python. Any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required.

Salary: $223,000.00 - $323,400.00 per annum.
