Design Engineering Department
The Design Engineering (D&E) team drives the technology, innovation and new development of data center infrastructure across Vantage’s companywide portfolio. D&E evaluates new sites, drives cost and schedule in line with company goals and serve as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. The team collaborates with Sales, Operations and management along the way. D&E also work hand in hand with the Construction team to come up with a vertically integrated design and ensures new and existing standards and designs are performed effectively. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff is given the responsibility and authority to directly drive tangible results. Our team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with company goals unlike external resources. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high-impact decisions and results.
Position Overview
Vantage is looking for a Power Developer, Business Development, that will play a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating, and securing power supply opportunities for our data centers. This position focuses on the strategic development of power infrastructure and partnerships to ensure the reliable, efficient, and sustainable delivery of electricity to support our data center operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy markets, power procurement, and business development within the data center industry or related fields.
This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.
Essential Job Functions
Identify and pursue new power supply opportunities to support the expansion and operation of data centers.
Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics in the power and energy sectors.
Develop and implement strategies for securing long-term, cost-effective, and sustainable power solutions.
Evaluate potential sites for new data center developments based on power availability and infrastructure.
Establish and maintain relationships with power utilities, renewable energy developers, and other customers.
Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs), contracts, and partnerships to secure reliable and cost-effective power supply.
Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to ensure favorable terms and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Handle existing power agreements and renegotiate terms as needed to optimize costs and reliability.
Own the development and execution of power infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and renewable energy installations.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
Lead all aspects of project budgets, timelines, and risk management to ensure successful completion.
Conduct feasibility studies and due diligence for potential power projects and investments.
Monitor and stay informed about regulatory developments and policy changes affecting power procurement and energy markets.
Ensure all power development activities follow local, state, and federal regulations.
Represent the company in regulatory proceedings and industry forums to advocate for favorable policies and standards.
Develop and implement strategies to increase the use of renewable energy sources and reduce carbon footprint.
Identify and evaluate innovative technologies and solutions to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote sustainable energy initiatives and projects.
Perform financial modeling and analysis to assess the viability and impact of power projects and agreements.
Prepare and present business cases, investment proposals, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
