The Opportunity

If so, we have the perfect role for you! MWC is seeking a Quality Manager to promote and advance food safety and bio-security, facilitate continual quality improvements and lead the QA lab and product release on-site in St Johns, Michigan. This permanent, full-time position will report to the Sr Quality Assurance Manager-Dairy and is fully onsite. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Quality System Management: Organize, coordinate, monitor, and champion the Quality System and Food Safety Systems in accordance with SQF requirements, including Pre-requisite programs, HACCP, FSMA, and Food Quality plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead the Quality Pillar and drive continuous improvements for zero quality defects utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools and principles.
- Leadership and Support: Provide leadership and support to ensure all internal and external processes are fully capable of delivering premium products to customers on a timely basis.
- Lab Management: Ensure lab results are produced quickly and accurately to match customer specifications and prevent potential food safety concerns.
- SQF Practitioner: Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF programs, including annual reviews and validation of changes to Food Safety and Food Quality Plans.
- Compliance: PCQI certified to develop and guide compliance with FSMA.
- Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate and monitor ingredients, packaging, and processing aid suppliers for compliance with the Vendor Assurance Policy.
- Product Evaluation: Grade and evaluate finished products and determine product release and distribution based on customer requirements.
- Audit Participation: Participate in all State, FDA, USDA, PMO, and other third-party audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed and documented.
- Training: Ensure employees have adequate knowledge of GMPs and Food Safety programs and supervise training completion and effectiveness.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 4 years related experience.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write speeches and articles for publication and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
