Job Description:

Calvert County Government’s Communications & Media Relations Team is seeking a creative and skilled Public Broadcast Producer for the Calvert Broadcast PEG station (Comcast Channels 1070 and 99). This role offers the opportunity to create engaging video content that informs and connects the community.  The ideal candidate should have strong video production experience, as well as proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, and After Effects. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities of this position are to develop and produce a wide range of video content, manage all stages of production, operate live broadcast equipment for events, collaborate with community organizations on programming, maintain technical equipment, and edit footage with graphics and sound for final distribution.

Performs advanced technical work for Calvert County's Public, Education and Government Network. Working with the Public Broadcast Manager, the Public Broadcast Producer works to develop, produce, and deliver programming, assists in managing and maintaining social media accounts, and related work as apparent or assigned.

The position requires a public communications expert with strong organizational skills and broad overall knowledge of the video production pipeline and equipment. Ability to independently manage a variety of tasks effectively and in a timely manner. Professional experience utilizing the Adobe Production Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop) and experience with social media content creation and management.

Essential Job Functions

Produces, shoots and edits segments and programs for the government and education network.

Delivers finished video files encoded properly for distribution on the government and education network, video on demand, and social media outlets.

Utilizes state of the art motion graphics software to produce program opens and promotional segments.

Assists with managing and maintaining of the government and education network social media marketing platforms and sites.

Maintains professional and collaborative working relationships with internal and external government and education entities and community members.

Provides video and operational support during emergency action situations which may require overnight and extensive working hours and stays in Emergency Operations Center.

Assists with archiving media files as needed to maintain a clear and accessible media archive.

Works with the Public Broadcast Manager, member municipalities, and other government and education entities to develop segment and program topics.

Makes regular equipment recommendations to improve efficiency and quality of operations in the field and in studio; makes content recommendations and generates new business proposals for review by the Public Broadcast Manager.

  • Operate various audio/video equipment and related editing equipment.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others encountered in the work.

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing. 

Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledges, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)

Training and/or Education:

Bachelor's degree with coursework in video production and/or communications.

Experience:

Five years of technical programming experience directly related to network and/or online broadcasting.
