The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for development and production support across multiple programs. 

This position is in Louisville, KY (On-site)

This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle.  Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineer in an individual contributor role, responsibilities will include technical execution of tasks, recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.  Post critical design activities include contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues.  Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

Other responsibilities to anticipate include a commitment to program schedule and budget, and 3D parametric modeling.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline

  • 5 years’ experience in mechanical design and/or design documentation

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)

  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5

  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics, principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.

  • Proficient in CREO (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)

  • Active DoD issued security clearance.
