About the role

The SPECIALIST, NURSING,  working under the general direction of a Physician, is responsible for assisting with administering treatments, performing physical examinations, diagnostic tests and screenings, counseling and educating employees with  treatment regimens and other basic medical care functions.  In this role,  you will implement company policies and procedures related to occupational health.  You will also be responsible for staying updated on nursing trends and industry practices, collaborating with teams to implement training programs and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.  Maintenance of accurate and confidential medical data is expected including employee health records, medical leaves of absence, OSHA compliance records and preparation of reports and presentations as required. 

 

This a UAW represented position.

What you'll do...

  • Coordinates with multiple stakeholders to provide competent, professional and expedient health services to employees at all Ford locations in accordance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinates with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and management. 
  • Participates in Case Management Meetings to reduce the impact of absenteeism related to occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses and ensure proper job placement when medical restrictions are warranted.
  • Implements company policies, protocols and procedures as specified for pre-employment medical examinations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, return-to-work assessments, or specific medical surveillance exams in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Educates employees on the importance of Wellness. 
  • Implements the delivery of nursing initiatives such as infection control, workflow optimization and evaluating tangible and intangible variables to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Facilitates return-to-work and job placement per established guidelines.
  • Assists the physician in coordinating referrals, employee follow up and receipt of medical reports, test results and other documentation. 
  • Updates existing Nursing protocols and policies as directed by Corporate Medical to ensure compliance and consistency with relevant local and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains secure, accurate medical records and adheres to patient confidentiality. 
  • Conducts training, periodic Corporate and self-audits and ensures accuracy of the OSHA log.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry best practices such evidence-based nursing theories, models, concepts and principles.
  • Provides teaching and guidance to junior members of the team.

You'll have... 

  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • 5  years of work experience as a registered nurse in Nursing  performing physical examinations, providing acute care and utilizing medical recordkeeping systems
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in MI
  • Unrestricted state license in MI

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • 3 years of work experience as a registered nurse in Nursing  performing physical examinations, providing acute care and utilizing medical recordkeeping systems
  • Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
