Job Details:
Location: Kentucky Hatchery, Monticello, KY
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Hours: Start times will vary due to workload and customer requests. Averages approximately 8-10 hours per shift.
Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
Starting wage - $16.50/hour

Position Summary:
- This position is responsible for processing chicks, cleaning/sanitizing of the processing areas and equipment by performing all essential duties. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Grades approximately 60,000 chicks (25%).
- Operates robot to vaccinate and beak trim approximately 2,000 chicks per hour, per customer order. (25%)
- Performs toe trim on approximately 8,000 chicks for identification purposes if required. (15%)
- Stack and move approximately 600 boxes of processed chicks. (15%)
- Performs dubbing on combs and dotting heads on approximately 8,000 chicks for identification purposes (10%).
Other Duties, Responsibilities and Activities
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Properly euthanizes weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy, mixes vaccine, operate a high pressure hose and regular water hose, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, operates box washer and maintains a clean and organized work area. Cleans chick processing equipment and does laundry on Sundays. Must be able to read to fill orders per the customer’s request, legible handwriting to write the flock numbers on the orders and perform simple math to count birds for orders. (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift/stack boxes of chicks weighing approximately 12-13 pounds. Must regularly push/pull a stack of 10 boxes of chicks on a wheeled dolly weighing approximately 120-130 pounds. Must be able to bend to pick up boxes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
