Roles & Responsibilities:
Provides oversight and management in all areas of diversified and complex construction projects to ensure client satisfaction. Manages the planning, implementation and allocation of resources and activities of capital construction projects to ensure project completion within established timeframes, contract specifications and budget.
GENERAL
- Oversees the design, construction and renovation of complex construction projects throughout the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Doctors’ Faculty Practices.
- Coordinates with client stakeholders, architects, engineers to provide services that satisfy Project Program and Scope, integrating with building systems and designs.
- Evaluates, identifies and implements new ideas, technologies or process improvements to organizational efficiencies and promote cost savings.
- Negotiates and administers the soliciting and awarding of contracts with Design Professionals, Vendors and Contractors.
- Prepares and oversees all financial aspects of a project, including estimates, Project Budget, Funding, Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Requisition Payments, from Feasibility through Close Out
- Monitors the design and construction of Work to ensure that timetables are maintained and that work conforms to design and operational standards and requirements. Reviews and consults with design professionals on safety issues for new projects.
- Provides Value Engineering and Constructability reviews of architectural and engineering designs.
SPECIFIC TO PROJECTS
- Prepares diagrams and fit-plans for preliminary feasibility of projects.
- Collaborates with the Facilities Engineering department to provide infrastructure interface with existing building systems.
- Coordinates and implements relocation plans of departments, programs, staff, patients, etc. as required to enable projects.
- Coordinates and monitors the review and preparation of drawings and contracts, providing input, recommendations and approval of the Work, throughout the duration of the project.
- Prepares RFQ and RFP Bid Documents, administers the bidding and levels and awards contracts to contractors, vendors and suppliers.
- Prepares construction status reports and monitors and updates construction schedules.
- Develops and maintains project cost reports and schedules.
- Ensures that Safety, ILSM and ICRA programs are enforced and that work conforms to design, quality and contractual standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
- 5 years professional experience in an Architectural Office, with an emphasis on healthcare design and construction, and specific expertise in producing Design and Construction documents, or 5 years experience in Construction Management
- Knowledge of AIA contracts. Work in healthcare/lab design preferred
- AIA, RA License, preferred
- LEED AP, PMP desirable
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
