Senior Vice President of Operations

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations is an executive role responsible for leading and optimizing the company’s infrastructure and core service functions, including: (1) Information Technology (IT), (2) Security, (3) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and (4) Facilities. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the SVP-Ops is a pivotal role in enabling operational success and supporting the overall mission of the company. The SVP-Ops collaborates with senior leadership across the company to ensure that these functions are efficient, compliant with regulations, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
The SVP-Ops is responsible for meeting certain operational goals, including managing budgets, direct and indirect labor, capital expenditures, and other key financial metrics. The SVP-Ops collaborates with the COO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and other senior leaders to develop and implement operational plans. This role ensures that the leads of IT, Security, EHS, and Facilities have the authority and resources to each execute their strategies effectively. The SVP-Ops holds these leaders accountable for performance metrics and coordinates across divisions and other company organizations to deliver high-quality products and services to customers and provide an excellent work environment for staff. For each responsibility below, the SVP leverages talent within the Operations groups, delegates portions of the work, and provides oversight to ensure each task is completed in a manner that reflects our values of impact, craftsmanship, and teamwork. In essence, the role is about building a thriving organization and cultivating a high performing team that is accountable for the foundational infrastructure needed to win and execute programs for National Security customers.
Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of the IT, Security, EHS, and Facilities groups. Ensure seamless coordination between these groups, the four technical divisions, and government customers. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry and government regulations and standards.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with the COO and other division leaders to align Operations with the overall goals and objectives of the company. Strategically plan and grow resources, including classified and unclassified facilities, IT infrastructure, and industrial security capabilities, to support the company's rapid growth.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators across Operations, using tools such as ServiceNow, making recommendations for improvements as needed. Provide regular updates and reports to the COO, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors (BOD) on the status and performance of Operations.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the Operations budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Align the Operations budget with the overall financial goals of the company. Monitor financial performance and meet or exceed financial goals, holding the Group Leads accountable to their group’s financial goals.
- Personnel Management: Establish consistent processes for the recruitment, development, and retention of staff within the Operations groups. Ensure consistent application of those processes and that staff career goals are established and supported, leveraging opportunities across the company. Conduct annual performance reviews of direct reports. Provide feedback to direct reports on their direct report’s annual reviews.
- Continuous Improvement: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall mission of the company. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Operations groups. Continuously evaluate, assess, and enhance the effectiveness of Operations processes. Use data analytics to make informed decisions regarding operations and resource allocation. Develop and use models to forecast infrastructure needs and plan for future growth. Provide frequent, specific feedback to Operations staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the company's Operations can continue in the event of a disruption. Work with EHS to develop emergency response plans and develop rapid response crisis teams with supporting key staff.
