Adjunct Instructor, Department of Management, Business and Economics

About the role

This is a part-time (one to two courses per semester position) to teach Accounting or Management and other related courses. The adjunct instructor of Management, Business, and Economics will teach in person at Virginia Wesleyan University. Preference will be given to candidates who have several years of teaching experience at the college level with a diverse population. Interested candidates should upload their resume/CV and official or unofficial transcripts as PDF attachments to the Virginia Wesleyan University Career Site and follow the instructions to submit an application. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare syllabi that meet the VWU syllabus guidelines and provide these to students on the first day of class. Syllabi should also be provided to department chairs.
  • Be on time and prepared for class sessions and grade, provide feedback, and return assignments within a reasonable time period.
  • Communicate with students via office hours and email.
  • Submit mid-term reports, final grades, and C- reports per guidelines provided by the University Registrar.
  • Comply with FERPA regulations.
  • Coordinate with Campus support services as needed to support students. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business or a related field is required. Terminal degree preferred. 
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and use Blackboard, the University Learning Management System. 
  • Strong communication skills.
