The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the IT Director of Cost Transparency, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Developing and maintaining an IT Cost Transparency framework and policies to ensure the effective alignment of IT delivery to business objectives.
• Develop and execute the cost transparency strategy to align IT expenditures with business goals.
• Lead the cost transparency team in delivering accurate and insightful financial analysis and reporting.
• Monitor and analyze IT Cost including hardware, software, personnel, 3rd party labor, and other IT specific expenditures to align with business needs and adhere to budgetary constraints.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to IT Leadership on IT cost management and value optimization, identifying opportunities to optimize spending and drive cost-saving initiatives/programs.
• Architect cost capture and structure to create a bill of IT and service costing model. 
• Monitor and report on performance metrics and KPIs which are benchmarked, drive them with IT leadership to optimal levels.
• Work with the Portfolio management team to cost projects and on-going IT cost to include in business cases.
• Stay informed on industry best practices and trends in Technology Business Management (TBM) and leverage this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.
• Establish and enforce TBM policies, standards, and best practices.
• Business owner of IT Cost Transparency tool.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to IT staff, direct and indirect, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Fifteen (15+) years IT professional experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Three (3) of experience in IT cost transparency tools such as Apptio or Nicas

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Technology / Information Systems Management preferred
• Management Accounting experience a plus
• Proficiency in financial management tools such as Excel, SAP, or Oracle Financials.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Experience with managing technology financial analysis
• Experience with managing technology inventories such as databases, servers, storage, application inventories.
• Proven ability to develop and exercise project plans with minimal supervision
• A quick learner, detail oriented, organized, strong problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organizations

Work location:

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood Headquarter at least 5 days per month or as needed)

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
