Titanium Team Lead 
 

 

We are looking for a Titanium Team Lead for our Plymouth, MI facility.  This role will supervise and assist operators to safely prepare, melt, and atomize Titanium metal powder following job instructions. This will include loading the atomizer with raw materials, purging down with inert gas, power-up, taking temperatures, inspecting, and positioned ingot in to feed system. Support activities associated with position include preparation and maintenance of the atomization nozzle, maintenance of accurate production records, delivery of atomized product to the screening area, and passivation and cleaning of the atomization system between alloys. The individual selected for this role will have leadership skills required for guiding training and supervising other team members. Gas atomization, SAP, and experience working with titanium are a plus.

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Operation and monitoring of induction melting equipment used for the gas atomization of Titanium alloys.  This will include loading the feed system, purging the system with inert gas, power-up, and feeding ingot into the atomization coil. Responsible for preparation and maintenance of nozzle.  It is important that the furnace operator maintain a constant awareness of the condition of the atomization system at all times.  
  • The Team Lead trains and supervises operators on cleaning the atomization chamber between alloys as well as routine maintenance and support activities (e.g. replacement of power leads, disassembly of atomization chambers, and installation of gas delivery system).  The Team Lead is responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.    
  • The Team Lead trains and supervises operators to utilizes process parameters specified in the job traveler.  Accurate records are maintained of heats atomized, noting characteristics such as start and stop time, gas pressures, temperatures, and melt characteristics.
  • The Team Lead and operators are responsible for the identification of in-process atomized material, transfer of atomized product to the screening area, and submission of samples to the QC laboratory per instructions on the job traveler.
  • Meets or exceeds all safety, environmental, and health goals for department.
  • Meets or exceeds quality goals for production orders.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity targets.
  • Notifies supervisor about any problems.
  • Contributes to continual improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Your Profile:

 

  • High School diploma or vocational technical training
  • Basic math skills and organization ability
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, i.e. lifting, bending
  • Ability to safely operate cranes and powered industrial vehicles
