The Office of Human Resources seeks an Human Resources Consultant to provide consultative support to people leaders & collaborate with stakeholders to align the HR Operations strategy with that of the unit of support in the areas of employee support/experience, people leader support, reporting and analytics, talent acquisition, talent management, compliance, workforce planning, classification and compensation, employee relations and performance management, organizational design and effectiveness, onboarding, integration, and offboarding employment lifecycle activities. Through ongoing and regular collaboration with HR Connection (Ohio State’s HR service delivery center) and HR Centers of Excellence, the HR Consultant will help ensure the application of customer-centric and continuous improvement delivery to all consultative points along the employee lifecycle inclusive of core HR transactions and inquiries.

This hybrid-based position will be embedded within the College of Public Health and will report to the Human Resources Business Partner as part of the Health Sciences’ HR Strategic Initiatives’ team. The College of Public Health protects and champions the health of the people of Ohio, the nation and the world. Through education, influential research and community engagement, CPH shapes and enhances public health, advances equity and impacts the delivery and effectiveness of health care. The HR Consultant will support faculty, staff and students within CPH’s 5-divisions and 2-centers and the Health Sciences’ campus as follows:

  • Customer Service/Consultation (50%)

    • Provides strategic consultation with leadership and employees including guidance and training on HR processes, policies, and procedures.

    • Trouble-shoots, triages and directs people leaders and employees to appropriate resources within human resources such as HR Connection/Service Now, Employee and Labor Relations, Employee Assistance Program, Benefits, Graduate School, etc.

    • Triages and responds to people leader and employees’ questions about recruitment, retention efforts, time and leave, classification and compensation, separations, and basic benefits questions.

    • Works with centers of excellence (COE) partners to support employees and people leaders where necessary.  Consults on organizational design needs and structure changes. Develops and maintains a strong relationship with Talent Acquisition and Office of Academic Affairs partners to ensure collaboration on recruitment in support of faculty, affiliated/associated faculty, staff and student employee populations to meet college needs.
