Associate Director of Major Gifts

Our equal opportunity partner is seeking an Associate Director of Major Gifts in St Paul, MN with strategic leadership in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors and prospects within the assigned region. The Associate Director will work closely with territory staff and maintain a portfolio of 125-150 prospects.

Responsibilities:

• Strategically cultivate, steward, and solicit individuals and family foundations in support of mission programs.
• Create comprehensive cultivation and solicitation strategies for each donor in the portfolio.
• Directly solicit major gifts in alignment with organizational goals.
• Qualify donors and identify prospects capable of significant contributions.
• Conduct donor visits, phone calls, and meaningful stewardship outreach as per territory goals.
• Collaborate with territory leadership to secure project information for proposals and solicitations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mission-related information for effective donor communication.
• Track all plans, interactions, and solicitations in Salesforce.
• Provide regular reporting on pipeline of solicitations and progress to goal.
• Develop written proposals and business cases for major donor approaches, especially in research, care services, and public policy.
• Monitor and implement activities, assess effectiveness, and adjust strategies in collaboration with territory leadership.
• Demonstrate behaviors in line with organizational mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to strict confidentiality policies in handling donor information.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with all constituencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of development experience, including one year of major gift solicitation.
• Proven track record of closing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
• Ability to quickly build rapport and strong relationships with donors.
• Operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of development principles, fundraising techniques, and ethics.
• Integrity, maturity, and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and managerial skills.
• Comfort with technology, including fundraising databases and high email volume.
• Extensive travel required, including donor visits and attendance at Association events.
