JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Partner Management and New Product Development is a critical member of the Cobrand Card team leading the overall relationship with US bank partner(s) as well as working on research, design, analysis, development, planning and execution of enhancing our current product set and, as relevant, the development of new products. The Global Cards team is responsible for driving material profit and customer engagement to Marriott International, with significant growth goals in the coming years. Ensuring we have seamless bank relationships, as well as continuously looking at how we can enhance our products, is an integral part of the business and a critical pillar in the company’s growth plans.
The position reports into the VP of Partner Management and NPD – Cobrand. Specifically, he/she will:
• Manage day-to-day relationship with bank partners including general business updates, Joint Operating Committees, and cross-team requests that need prioritization
• Ensure all core value propositions of the products are functioning as intended and support any necessary remediation efforts when applicable
• Partner with teams as necessary for offers and pilots that will inform product changes
• Support in the evaluation of product enhancements/changes with internal partners (e.g. finance, loyalty etc.).
• Lead product enhancements/refreshes in partnership with the cobrand team, banks, CX, Loyalty and other internal partners
• Own the project management and facilitation of enhancing products and/or benefit development
• Liase with Loyalty for synergies between the future of Loyalty and cards, including ways card can play into elite status; and how our Luxury cards can support the Luxury organization’s relevant initiatives
• Identify and align the role of the product changes in supporting Marriott Bonvoy and Consumer Operations strategy and objectives.
• Help drive continued connectivity across Marriott as it relates to our broader bank partnerships to ensure organizational alignment on key initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking skills, an understanding of and passion for product enhancement/development and how it supports business, a proven ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and a willingness to be tested on difficult projects and initiatives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
• BA or BS in business, marketing, hospitality or related field
• 8+ years of experience leading product design with partners
• Success in leading contractual / commercial relationships
• Experience defining new products and loyalty benefits from research, concept, to requirements gathering and implementation.
• Proven track record of planning and leading large cross functional business projects with significant measurable impact in large, complex organizations, using a variety of analysis, customer experience and loyalty benefit design.
Education and Experience Preferred
• MBA
• Hospitality / Lodging industry experience
• Bank / cobrand credit card experience
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Optimize cobrand products in collaboration with cobrand team, Loyalty, CX, and others
• Lead the relationship and product project plan with the banks’ product development teams for any product changes
• Connect NPD across the cobrand team including existing cardmember and acquisition verticals
• Identify and align the role of Cobrand Card business with Marriott Bonvoy and Consumer Operations strategy and objectives
• Stay well-versed in competitive landscape and industry news
