Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an early or mid-career Design and Analysis Engineer. The successful candidate will possess a wide range of Software Development experience throughout the development lifecycle.

We are seeking a skilled Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software tools for deploying Windows imaging to air-gapped computers with no network connectivity. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Windows programming, tool development, and a solid understanding of secure, offline system environments. Software and hardware integration will be a staple of this position, using multiple Avionics busses such as Mil-Standard-1553B and ARINC-429. Commercial buses such as Ethernet, RS- 232, RS-422, and USB are heavily used as well. Working with internal and external customers to ensure all requirements are met, possessing a disciplined engineering method, and exhibiting strong communication skills are all requirements for the position. The capacity to rapidly develop an understanding of the products is essential, facilitating a swift transition into a position where one can contribute effectively. The selected candidate will comprehend project timelines and will be capable of providing status on assignment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tools for deploying Windows images to air-gapped systems, ensuring compatibility and reliability in offline environments

  • Proficiency in C, C++, MFC, ATL, STL, C#, and VB languages

  • Implement and optimize imaging workflows using tools like Symantec Ghost or similar technologies

  • Develop and maintain SQL-based solutions for managing imaging metadata or configurations

  • Debug, test, and validate tools to ensure performance and reliability in secure, disconnected environments

  • Document technical designs, processes, and user guides for developed tools

  • Stay updated on Windows programming best practices and emerging tools relevant to offline system deployments

  • PM collaboration with project schedule and assessing impacts, risks and opportunities.

  • Communicating across various teams and functions, fostering collaboration and building consensus.

  • Aiding field sites in the resolution of software, hardware, and documentation issues related to fielded products

  • Working under minimal and strategic direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 2+ years’ experience software development/integration

  • Experience in Windows programming and tool development

  • Ability to identify issues, propose effective solutions, and drive technical execution independently. Being capable of managing a subsystem or component with minimal oversight

  • Possessing a strong commitment to completing projects on schedule while ensuring first-time quality

  • Data parsing and visualization skills – Able to parse raw aircraft LRU data and display it in a meaningful way for engineering or diagnostic purposes

  • Familiarity with hardware-software integration and troubleshooting – Ability to diagnose data flow, timing issues, and interface mismatches using tools like protocol analyzers, logs, and signal testers

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Ability to work seamlessly with team members at different geographical locations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • (Level 3): 3+ years of higher education and/or related work experience. (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)

  • A solid understanding of industry standards and processes

  • Proficient in writing testable and certifiable code, as well as comprehensive documentation

  • Familiarity with Windows System Administrator roles with experience in Group Policy settings, STIGs application and verification, Firewall configuration and Device whitelisting

  • Familiarity with configuring network adapters and working with BIOS configurations

  • Experience with aircraft communications buses and protocols – knowledge of how to interface with aircraft LRUs, interpret binary data and handle custom communication protocols over avionics buses such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553B
