Functional Test Lead

Fortuna is seeking an experienced and proactive Functional Test Lead to guide quality assurance efforts for a Document Management System (DMS) Modernization project. This senior-level role requires a hands-on leader capable of independently driving testing initiatives, managing test threads, and leading QA teams through the full software development lifecycle.

Worksite: Hybrid- West Coast Preferred
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Compensation: 50.00 - 54.00 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
-
Lead QA planning, execution, and delivery of functional testing for a DMS modernization effort

Collaborate with development, product, and stakeholder teams to align test strategy with project goals

Oversee and mentor QA team members across multiple testing phases (unit, integration, regression, UAT)

Create and manage detailed test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices

Execute test cycles and report on defect metrics, coverage, and quality trends

Identify, document, and track bugs through resolution

Recommend and implement QA process improvements

Ensure all testing aligns with compliance, security, and documentation standards
WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in functional testing and QA leadership

Proven ability to independently lead QA threads for enterprise-level system modernization projects

Strong understanding of document management systems and associated workflows

Hands-on experience with test management tools and methodologies

Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills

Effective verbal and written communication across technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools

Familiarity with government or large enterprise environments

ISTQB or equivalent testing certifications
