About the role

We are seeking a Medical Editor who will edit manuscripts, grant proposals, book chapters, posters, and PowerPoint presentations for Medicine (ACCM). Should be able to edit for language, logic, grammar, consistency, and compliance with published requirements. Formats faculty bio sketches according to NIH standards. Proofreads page proofs against the submitted manuscript. Contributes to the writing and editing of articles for the departmental quarterly newsletter and website. Works with members of the Research and Grants Office staff to support other initiatives for ACCM physician-scientists and basic researchers in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.



Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s Degree or master’s Degree in English, Journalism, or Biological Sciences.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the editing of medical or scientific manuscripts.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience editing grants for submission to the NIH is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with Reference Manager or EndNote database system is also desirable.
  • Candidates with an ELS certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly detail-oriented, and be able to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Word and MS PowerPoint.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
