About the Role & Program:
Product Engineering builds the software and systems which prepare, deliver, and play streaming media content across the Disney media brands including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC. Our objective is to provide the best playback experience in the industry to our viewers.
Product Engineering handles video, audio, and metadata for normalization, processing, and packaging – supporting operator tools and automation for a scalable workflow. We build logic across both players and back-end services to measure, control, and optimize playback across our stack. We embrace unconventional thinking and are passionate about contributing to the Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer experience.
Our team is looking for hardworking team players to join us in Product Engineering, who will thrive upon the legacy of the Disney media brands and are passionate about contributing to the experiences we deliver through ESPN, ABC News, Lucas Films, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and the Disney animation and film studios.
The Application Player Engineering Apple Engineering team mission is to design video streaming playback solutions in collaboration with encoding, packaging, and delivery teams to optimize the Disney streaming technology stack for the best streaming experience possible on all platforms.
Our team is seeking someone who can fill the role of an Intern to collaborate in creating a feature rich standard streaming media playback library on Apple devices. Our goal is to provide an avenue for real-world work experience in an exciting aspect of Disney streaming technology. You will provide valuable contributions to our organization and to our fans, participate in learning and development opportunities, and launch an exciting career in one of the most exciting aspects in the tech industry.

Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
What You Will Do:
Opportunity for someone to gain experience with Apple development – including hands-on Swift/SwiftUI development.
Opportunity for collaboration within a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Web Developers, and Content Creators that conceptualize and develop solutions that are shared across all Disney experiences.
Hands-on development on a flagship product where you will directly influence a feature or have impact on quality of a feature-set.
Learn to troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platforms.
Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as the larger engineering organization.
Participate in project estimation and resource planning.
Research and development for media playback experiences, integration, and testing.
