Overview of the role

In the Merchandise Coordinator role, you will be responsible for organizing, transporting, and staging merchandise, props, surfaces, grip, crafty, and other supplies necessary to efficiently execute each shoot. You will be relied on by the Producer for any updates regarding product issues, supply shortages, etc. We are seeking a Merchandise Coordinator who is a self-starter, able to work independently and proactively to constantly support all facets of our photo teams while maintaining a can-do attitude amid a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Producer daily to review details of shooting schedule, merchandise, props, surfaces, grip, camera equipment and crafty needs.
  • Remain attentive, proactive, and productive to always anticipate the needs of the photo crew on and off set. Maintain a “all hands on deck” mentality to jump in to help all Art Directors, Producers, Photographers, Stylists, Retouchers, E-com Team, Warehouse Team, Set Shop, and Merchants with anything.
  • Responsible for consistent upkeep of Prop Cage, Surfaces, KOT, and Crafty. Keep crafty table aesthetically organized, stocked, and clean for the beginning and end of each day, alerting Producer for any needed supplies.
  • Familiarize with sample ordering process, merchant teams, and warehouse functions in order to communicate cross functionally and support Producer.
  • Proactively account for, load/unload, label, organize, stage, and develop familiarity with merchandise, props, surfaces and grip equipment for photography.
  • Unpack and correctly re-pack photo samples safely for transit between photo teams, color retouching teams, and various locations, using protective sheets, furniture blankets, bubble wrap, bags, boxes, etc.
  • Have product unpacked, unwrapped, troubleshot, and ready to shoot ahead of each shoot date.
  • Work with warehouse and MCs to ensure all merchandise and props are returned with proper labeling and wrapping, alerting any issues immediately to a Producer.
  • Help construct and maintain various set and surface rigs, working creatively with the team to set up challenging shots.
  • Drive 15’-18’ truck, and sprinter van (both require no special license). Keep vehicle interiors clean, and consistently organize to maintain function.
  • Travel occasionally with photo teams to execute photoshoots on location; location shoots can range from 1-2 days and up to 2 weeks.
  • Protect floors, surfaces, and furniture of photo locations with protective materials.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with the photo team, merchants, vendors, and homeowners.

Criteria

  • Ability to perform work onsite in the San Francisco office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Sense of urgency – You’re happy to jump up to help anyone, finding samples quickly and rapidly change out sets, thinking on the spot for quick yet effective solutions in high pressure time constraints.
  • Expert in time management – You’re able to work quickly while maintaining safety, prioritizing tasks and staying calm under pressure.
  • Extremely organized and thorough – You’re able to stage samples thoughtfully, troubleshooting samples for anything missing, broken, or defective and alerting Producers immediately.
  • Anticipate Needs – You’re always two steps ahead, listening so you can foresee and resolve issues early.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • A high school diploma required.
  • Experience driving and maneuvering an 18’ truck.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license & satisfactory driving record.
  • Good knowledge of highways, map reading, sense of direction.
  • Willing to complete a driver training program and participate in DMV’s Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Must be able to lift and move merchandise up to 75 pounds.
  • Previous experience with furniture or household goods.
  • Understanding of proper lifting techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to lead a team and delegate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
