Limestone - Opening/Card Operator 1st Shift

Primary Duties: Operate Cards to produce high quality sliver and perform necessary cleaning.

 

Tools Required:   Hand roller picker, steel toe shoes, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, respirator, safety glasses, brush, ear plugs, and broom.

 

Materials Used:   Empty cans, ID bands.

 

Supervision Exercised:   None; receives instructions from Supervisor or Shift Lead Person.  Shift Technician to provide follow-up.

 

Job Procedures:

1. Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
2. Repair end breaks, tags, and other quality concerns.
3. Maintain proper bales feeding bend line hoppers and ensure properly fed.
4. Doff full cans of sliver and place empty can in can changer.
5. Identify blend by placing correct ID band color on cans.
6. Capture any suspected off-quality sliver.  Identify with a Non-Conformance sheet, move to the Non-Conformance area next to the Yarn Mill Lab, and report to Technician, Shift Lead Person, or Supervisor.
7. Patrol job and inspect for any tags in the sliver path and remove them to ensure high quality sliver is produced.
8. Perform shift cleaning to ensure high quality sliver is produced.
