Job Description
Primary Function:
Safely moves finished goods and supplies to designated areas ensuring all associated documentation is accurately filled out and properly submitted.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.
FACILITY:
A Material Handler (Level 1), under the direction and supervision of Production Super and Production Manager, will be able to:
1) Receive and warehouse raw goods from the Warehouse, Inter-Plant Transfers and Vendors.
2) Pick and load orders for shipment to the Warehouse, customer, or Toller.
3) Check J-Items in JDE system to verify INV, transactions of resins, additives, order packaging, inventory and scrap
4) Accurately load customer orders on trailers. Ensure the load will remain stable during transit and that the weight is properly distributed within the trailer.
5) Deliver packaging materials to the work centers, remove finished pallets, and prepare to sip
6) Inspect, drive and maintain assigned forklift as instructed through Amcor Global training programs.
7) Accurately document all activities associated with receiving, warehousing and shipping operations as instructed through Amcor Global training programs.
8) Comply with all safety rules and policies and report unsafe conditions to the Supervisor, Manager or Plant Safety Representative.
9) Take appropriate action to ensure conformance to AIB,SQF, quality policies and regulations
10) Attend regular department meetings, safety meetings and company provided training
11) Assist in troubleshooting material variances and system discrepancies
12) Maintain good housekeeping practices, support CI and 6S initiatives.
13) Complete all assignments as directed by Management.
OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS
Must be able to read, write and understand English; being bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and Managers. Follow verbal and written instructions.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Follows Amcor’s Safety Absolutes and various safety policies. Visually inspects warehouse area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards, employee’s safety and adherence to policies and maintains compliance with housekeeping rules.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully/ with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a high school diploma or GED and have previous forklift experience. Be dependable, reliable and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly. Must be familiar with ERP, INV systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Read, write, understand and communicate in English; ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to do functional math: (i.e. add, subtract, multiply and divide).
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to understand customer specifications in the Production Order Form, shippers, bill of lading doc, and know what finished flexible product should be produced that meets all the customer's specifications for shipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze. The employee routinely bends and lifts up to 50 lbs. and climbs/ descends stairs. The employee stands approximately 2 hours and routinely walks the warehouse area to check production and consult with other employees. The employee routinely steps up 1 ½ feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift. Operation of pallet jacks, lifting equipment and driving the forklift are essential to job responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, palletizing product in excess of 1000 lbs. stored in rack and floor locations and loading/offloading operations of trailers and containers.
