The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and environmental services is the driving force behind cleanliness and infection control at the RHH. In accordance with established guidelines, systems and processes, the Handyperson will provide an efficient and effective maintenance, gardening and handyperson service to the RHH and satellite sites as directed.

The Role:
The role involves conducting regular maintenance tasks across departmental sites, including pressure cleaning, steam cleaning, carpet cleaning, weed spraying and glass cleaning. It also encompasses gardening responsibilities such as maintaining shrubs, flowers, and lawns, pruning, spraying, feeding, and fertilizing both outdoor and indoor plants, including those in clinical areas. Additional duties include washing walls and ceilings, as well as removing, cleaning, and replacing air vents and light covers. Actively engage in the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes by contributing to safety system development, improvement initiatives, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and related training.
You will need:
- Demonstrated competence and experience in the execution of gardening/handyperson and cleaning maintenance tasks and the operation of appropriate machinery.
- Capacity to exercise initiative and judgment in the resolution of day to day problems.
- Effective time management, planning and organisational skills which will enable services to be met

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
