Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Support the operations team in reviewing product specifications, processes, system updates, machines/equipment and overall department support.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  The duties and responsibilities regularly performed for this position are:

  • Assists in creation and improvement of manufacturing processes utilizing engineering input, engineering drawings, process mapping, and machine capabilities.
  • Assists in development and refinement of work instructions, work scopes, routers, and BOMs
  • Works with cost accounting to define cycle & takt times to generate standard hour measurements on the shop floor
  • Assist in data collection, scrubbing, and refinement of capacity studies
  • Collects data and maintains metrics using Microsoft Office suite
  • Maintains safe and orderly work areas, understands and is compliant with organization’s policies and procedures
  • Translating computer-aided design (CAD) models into a series of commands that control the movements of machine tools
  • Importing CAD models or G-code template programs into CNC programming software to define the dimensions and features of the part to be produced
  • Analyzing CAD models or engineering specifications to determine the appropriate tools and most efficient sequence of tool operations
  • Tuning the CAD file or G-code to optimize machine tool operations/minimize waste and loading the instructions into the machine tool control system
  • May also create custom G-code programs using macro programming; An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial engineering or another related field required
  • 30+ hours of engineering core and degree related courses completed preferred
  • Position requires excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis & technical problem solving, strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.

May require the following proficiency: • Work is closely supervised. • Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. • Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area
