Bridge Project Engineer

Duties

• Structural analysis and design calculations for bridges, retaining walls, bridge repairs, and ancillary structures.
• Preparing structural plans in accordance with VDOT.
• Be responsible for documenting and reporting bridge conditions for routine or special bridge inspection assignments in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
• Write reports and analyze load ratings of bridges and culverts working with VDOT’s, counties and/or municipalities to assess bridge infrastructure.
• Develops concept plans and design criteria, typical section(s), and cost estimate such as the long range estimates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing highway bridges and transportation structures is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Experience using design software such as MathCAD, MicroStation, or other drafting software.
• Passed Virginia FE exam or has Virginia PE License.
